The 2nd edition of The World Games Series (TWGS) will take place in Chengdu, China, from 28 -30 March 2025 at the Chengdu Sport University Sancha Lake Campus. After the successful inaugural event, in Hong Kong, China, in October 2024, TWG Series continues to bring world-class athletes together, offering them additional international exposure. This event will serve as one of the qualifiers for The World Games 2025, offering coveted spots in three featured sports.Underwater (World Underwater Federation, CMAS), Life Saving (International Life Saving Federation, ILS) and Boules Sports (World Pétanque and Boules Federation, WPBF) are featured on the three-day programme.

  • A total of 128 athletes will compete, achieving full gender parity.
  • 64 in Underwater (Finswimming: 24 men, 24 women; Freediving 8 men, 8 women)
  • 48 in Life Saving (24 men, 24 women)
  • 16 in Boules Sports (8 men, 8 women)

Qualifications

With qualification spots up for grabs, the stakes have never been higher, and the performances are expected to set the stage for an unforgettable edition of The World Games later this year, from 7-17 August.

All events will be qualifier for The World Games 2025.

Quota places for TWG 2025 in Underwater Sports will be allocated following this second leg, as follows:

  • In Finswimming: the races’ winners will qualify if they haven’t qualified so far. Up to 12 spots will be up for grabs but the total number of qualifications will likely be 1 or 2.
  • 4 places in Freediving: 2 athletes per gender

A rehearsal to The World Games 2025

The Chengdu Sport University Sancha Lake Campus, the venue for TWG Series #2, will also host The World Games 2025. As such, the TWG Series will act as a real-life test event, allowing organisers and the participating International Federations to assess operations, functionalities, and fine-tune preparations for the main event.
